Dedicated to the memory of Margaret Cross

Margaret was born in Carlisle, Cumbria in 1945. We (her husband, Robert, and daughters, Alison and Carolyn) remember her life of travel, her varied jobs (including riding instructor to the Nepali cavalry!), her love of languages, her bravery in living with mnd, and her ever-present sense of humour. We hope to raise funds to treat and cure motor neurone disease, which took her from us.
Please take a look through the photos, video and stories below then leave a comment.
Margaret wrote a blog about living with mnd. You can read it here: https://mymnd.video.blog/

Thoughts

Margaret was fantastically kind to me and a lovely lady. I was tremendously inspired by her courage in the face of MND and from what I knew of Margaret, not all all surprised by her energy and drive with all the work she undertook since her diagnosis. May you Rest in Peace, Margaret. Debra

David and I have been friends with Margaret and Rob for a long time. The first time I met Margaret (back in about 2003) she'd just come back from her holiday in Botswana with Rob and she mesmorised me with her tales of Africa, the animals big and small, the people, the colours, the cultures and the big big skies! Margaret drew images in my mind with her descriptions of the way a lion would swagger along and the contrasting elegance of a giraffe's gentle gait and the colours of the setting sun. Her enthusiasm for Africa was infectious, as was her enthusiasm for life. David and I were privileged to visit Namibia with Margaret and Rob in 2006 - we will always be grateful to them for the knowledge and experience they were so happy to share with us. We know Margaret would not wish to be defined by mnd, but by her zest for life, her great capacity to help and support other people, her sense of humour. Margaret had a knack of always looking smart and appropriately dressed whatever the occasion. I’ve often heard her quote from the extract of the poem I’m going to read, she thought it really funny, it appealed so much to her wonderful sense of humour. Margaret, fly high in the big blue skies. May you rest in the peace you so truly deserve.
